Hi Alan, I’m not sure I agree with the fact that they never produced Demo Labels for this single because they had large advance orders. As you said they had plenty of time to produce them if needed and If you think about the very large advance orders for ‘I want to hold your Hand and yet they made Demo labels for that one. There seemed to be a pattern of making one then missing one. But I probably go with the theory of just how busy they were at the time with all the artists singles that they had to press. Fantastic Articles though by the way.

Hi Tony and thanks for your comment. It’s difficult nearly 50 years after the event to speculate what happened. I try to apply logic and my own experience of working at a record company (Decca) to give a reason why something has happened the way it did. From that ‘Factory Sample’ copy, it would appear that this was used as a demo. Why then ‘I Want To Hold Your Hand’ was issued as a demo and not ‘She Loves You’? I hooked up with the linotype setter from Harrison’s last week and hope to be publishing some new information that will prove interesting.
